           Adam C. Miller was the man in the Packers jacket who ran and punched a Milwaukee police officer. He initially received only 7 months in jail, but appears to have spent roughly twice as long in the clink. After being released in 2008, he remained on probation until 2013, and he must be registered as a sex offender until 2028. He still lives in Germantown, Wisconsin.      Sean Young was a much more dangerous individual, caught cruising by the house with a loaded gun, despite being a convicted felon. He fired 3 lawyers who urged him to plead guilty and instead represented himself in court, disrupting the trial with numerous antics. He has been in prison for the past 11 years and will likely spend several more in prison before being released.      A child molestor tried to clear his name on RipOff Report after he was caught by PopSquad trying to rape a child. I know it has to be one of the people Nito has caught.        2 men busted separately in predator stings in California were rearrested on sex charges. This has nothing to do with the brilliant folks in law enforcement and the district attorneys prosecuting these cases. It merely offers proof that these men are not "innocent victims" who would "never do such a thing." They are sexual predators with a compulsion to victmize children:      -21-year-old Andres Cano Ortiz was rearrested after child pornography was discovered during a search of his computer.      -26-year-old Christopher Contreras was arrested after a search of his online activity revealed he had molested a 15-year-old girl.

       At age 17, Dakota J. Younger was a threat, charged with 3rd degree sexual assault, false imprisonment, and exposure of genitials to a child.        Launched in 1998 and 2006 respectively, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Project Safe Childhood continue to make tens of thousands of arrests on an annual basis. With more than 100,000 convictions thusfar, the federal government is on track to arrest a million people for child porn and child solicitation charges.      Just this week, the following sentences were handed out:      -A New York man, Robert Kirk, was sentenced to 40 years in prison with lifetime probation for groping a child and distributing the images online.      -A Pennsylvania man, Jack Brian LaForte, was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison with 15 years of probation for possession of child pornography.      -A Kentucky man, Andrew Dick, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession of child porn, and he also faces military trial.      -A Kentucky man, Bradley D.             Three men were arrested in Palm Springs, California, for an episode of the TV show "COPS," the first being James Philbrick . He hit up a 13-year-old male decoy looking for sex. He hired an expensive attorney (he was a TV anchorman) and got the charges dropped to misdemeanors for which he received 90 days on house arrest, 3 years probation, 100 hours community service, and fines. Despite his weak sentence, he never worked in news again and attracted a significant amount of media attention, now living as an outcast in Palm Springs.       Wesley Brannen decided to plead guilty and received a sentence of 18 months in prison and lifetime RSO status. He was released after serving his full sentence. He was subsequently convicted of another felony, although details are not available.        In "Operation Gabbi Doolin," named after a young girl kidnapped and murdered at her brother's school football game, 7 men were arrested after trying to meet someone they thought was a minor for sex. The men, ages 22 to 66, were all from Kentucky and were charged with felonies that carry penalties of 10 years to life. Their names are as follows: Charles Ashley, Jimmy Kwizera, Melvin Dowell, Joseph Zakhari, Jeffrie Corn, Travis Puckett, and Eric Vanhandle.      Kentucky has a long history of catching predators, from Louisville to Highland Heights to Bowling Green, and the efforts of the KBI and Kentucky Attorney General's Office were featured on the show "To Catch A Predator."

       The Lafayette County Sheriff's Office has arrested three men-- Cory Ballentine, Johnathan Woolbright, and Ethan Moses-- in just under a week and charged them with solicitation of a minor, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.       The coronavirus pandemic has caused a spike in child solicitation, and, as a result, the stings here have begun in earnest, as well. In August , 23 men between the ages of 23 of 59 were arrested and charged with felonies in a sting in Hernando, and more operations are expected in the coming weeks and months.

     Online solicitation of children is a real problem, with an estimated 750,000 sexual predators on the internet at any given time. Luckily, there are states who are not content to sit idly by and wait for children to become victims. The 9 I especially admire are listed below, in no particular order.      1. Florida: The Florida Sheriffs Association has launched its own program statewide to catch sexual predators, and over the years countless hundreds of people have been arrested and charged with felonies. Many of the men convicted were sentenced to a number of years in prison with lifetime registration as sex offenders.      2. Ohio: Ohio does not have the strongest laws, with a number of notable legislative failures, a weak maximum jail sentence of around 18 months, and a sex offender registration that only lasts 10 years for all but the worst of the worst.            John Kendall Best is the worst kind of person, convicted of second-degree child rape in 2003 and sentenced to a year in prison, a year of probation, and lifetime RSO status. His probation was revoked in 2006, and he received an unknown sentence. Cropper should have had his name legally changed to "Crapper" as part of his sentence for child rape in the second-degree (OF A CHILD HE MET ONLINE!!!), but instead received 20 years in prison, and he was released after serving 6. He was also convicted of molesting his niece and sentenced to another 10 years as well as lifetime sexual predator status. He was released in December 2016, and he has been spotted stocking shelves at a Kroger store.       Jeffrey Stacy was convicted and sentenced to 6 months in jail, forfeiture of his car, probation until 2010, and sex offender registry until 2017. He was removed and later got married in 2018, his wife an ugly brute who apparently has no problem with child molestors. He was recently fired from a position instructing children at a karate dojo after his TCAP appearance was uncovered.       Timothy Isaac was convicted in 2006 and sentenced to 8 months in jail and RSO status until 2017.        Mike Tyson was notorious for being disqualified in 1997 when he bit Evander Holifield on the ear, but this was far from his most heinous behavior.       In 1991, he raped 18-year-old Desiree Washington, Miss Black Rhode Island, in an Indianapolis hotel room. Tyson had the gall to try to say it was consensual, but a chauffeur described her state of shock and the emergency room teachnician described her condition as being consistent with rape. He was sentenced in 1992 to 6 years in prison.      He appealed, and even more heinously, tried to bring the victim's past sexual behavior up as a defense. This fallacy was outlawed in 1994 with the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act. His conviction was upheld and he spent 3 years in prison.      Kristen's Law would have saved lives. The sheriffs, police chiefs, and prosecutors who are sworn to protect citizens failed to do so because it would have meant extra work, or so they thought. Not only were they incorrect, but their failure demonstrates precisely the flaws in a system that values protecting criminals over potential victims.      Introduced in Ohio way back in 2007, this controversial law was named after Kristen Jackson, a 14-year-old who had been dismembered and murdered by a sex offender in 2002. Had the man had a neon-green license plate on his car, she would have known to stay away from him.        Monroe County authorities arrested a 31-year-old man named Douglas Predmore after he allegedly contacted a decoy pretending to be a 14-year-old girl and chatted over the course of several months. He was charged with first-degree felony attempted dissemination of harmful material to a minor, which carries a maximum of 7 years in prison. He is being held without bond for violating parole. What he was on parole for is unknown. However, judging by the circumstances of his arrest, he could face 12-36 months for this parole violation in Tompkins County.

     Because the goal of most sexual predators is to gain power over their victims to make up for some lack they felt during their lives, shifting the balance of power is key to moving on from sexual abuse. As we mentioned last week, seeking justice, whether successfully or not, is one way to do so. However, there are ways that require far less effort. In fact, it is as simple as a few words in the English language.      "Victim" has sometimes-fatal connotations. A victim is somebody who doesn't make it, who dies or is hopelessly damaged. Even the strongest may be inclined to embark on a journey of self-destruction when they see themselves as victims. For all the pain life inflicted, it didn't finish the job. Even though it was never meant to, many subconsciously see their emergence from the situation as unnatural when they are referred to as victims.       The Laguna Beach sting operation has earned star status in the "To Catch A Predator" community because of the volume of men who showed up (13 in 11 hours, which would have broken the Riverside record had it been carried out for a full 3 days) and because of 2 names who surfaced: Hoi Chan and Keith Williams , who were previously arrested the month before in Riverside. They quickly pled guilty and received respective 3- and 1-year sentences and lifetime RSO status. Chan was also deported. However, it also had quite a few sick characters in its own right.      Benjamin Taul was a disgusting individual who solicited a minor decoy on teenspot.com and was, not surprisingly, found with child pornography. He was sentenced to a year in prison, probation until 2010, and lifetime RSO status. he lives in Yorba Linda.      David Phuong Pham also had child porn, he had previously had a near-miss by trying to show up to the Riverside sting, and he showed up to the house with drugs.

     While the world may seem frightening and full of bad news, positive developments do arise, such as the news that laws designed to stop child sex traffickers have improved markedly in less than a decade. Shared Hope International conducted this  study of laws between 2011 and 2019 and gave each state a letter grade.      States were ranked based on a number of key criteria: criminalization of the acts themselves; criminal provisions for demand, traffickers, and facilitators; protective provisions for victims; and criminal justice tools for investigation and prosecution.      Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, and Utah all improved 4 letter grades, from F to A. 12 raised their grades by 3 levels, 21 by 2 levels, and 10 by 1 level. Only 2, Illinois and Missouri, failed to improve. Tennessee, Montana, Nevada, Georgia, and Louisiana received the best scores.        The legal system is fucked up. My abuser was a victim himself, and, thanks to the handiwork of a lawyer, remained in a household as a child where he was subjected to abuse. This did not excuse the suffering he inflicted upon myself and others, but it is a demonstration of the influence money has on supposedly-blind justice.
