400 Arrested in Child Predator Stings in More Than a Dozen States in 2022

Image
398 arrests in 39 stings across more than a dozen states. That's the record for predator stings across the country in 2022, stings that catch men and women soliciting children online for sex. Even by itself, that would be pretty impressive, but that's not where the story ends. These numbers do not include volunteer operations that lead to arrests, stings targeting individuals rather than multiple people, or arrests made for solicitation of real children online. Even if it doesn't quite make national news like it did during the era of "To Catch a Predator," thousands of people are being arrested every year for soliciting kids for sex online, a sting nearly every week resulting in the arrest of people every day. Each of these arrests represents children saved and awareness created: February 1st, 2022: Walton County, Florida ( 12 arrests ) February 1st, 2022: Montgomery County, Texas ( 10 arrests ) February 10th, 2022: Wood County, West Virginia ( 4 arrests ) Fe

Sex Offender Who Sent Nude Photos to Kids Arrested for Soliciting Nude Photos From Kids

The story of Cody Kozicki is a long, twisted one. I've already highlighted how he had a long history of sending unsolicited explicit messages and images to high school and middle school girls but was allowed to remain in the school and stayed living at his mother's home due to an alleged "learning disability" that has nothing to do with being a sexual predator. I've already highlighted his continued use of TikTok and other social media platforms to lure more victims, his arrest after sending images to elementary school girls, his four counts of bond jumping for the aforementioned use of social media, his attorney deciding to withdraw from the case, his guilty plea to two felony charges, and his meager sentence of time served with probation .      On his 20th birthday, I highlighted his arrest for what at the time was listed as merely a probation violation, a serious felony charge but one that is often resolved relatively quickly and gently. It took m

The Murphy Curse: How Five Predators from One TCAP Sting Ended Up Dead

Image
Is there really a Murphy Curse? I don't know. I'd like to believe I'm not necessarily a superstitious person, but some superstitions have some weight to them. Just look at the Curse of Tippecanoe, named after President William Henry "Tippecanoe" Harrison, the first president to die in office. Elected in 1840, he died of pneumonia 30 days into his presidency. Elected in 1860, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated; as was James Garfield, elected in 1880; as was William McKinley, re-elected in 1900; Warren G. Harding, elected in 1920, and Franklin D. Roosevelt, re-elected in 1940, both died of natural causes; elected in 1960, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1960. Since then, Presidents Reagan, Bush Jr., and Biden have seemingly broken the curse. However, the "Curse of Tippecanoe" seemed to be proof that a curse can exist.      If one "To Catch a Predator" investigation was cursed, it was definitely the Murphy investigation. Over the course of

Teen Child Rapist Arrested for Probation Violation Just Months After Finding Out He'll Have to Register as a Sex Offender

The idea that teen sex offenders are not as dangerous as offenders in their 70s, 60s, and 50s is simply ludicrous moral posturing that needs to end. A large number of people who have been sexually abused, including the author, were abused by teenagers. Grandpa doesn't wake up one morning and decide to prey on kids; it's a sickness, as in a mental perversion, that develops at a much younger age and continues throughout life. Some people are able to control it, most are able to control it for some span of time until they get themselves into trouble and ruin lives, and some simply never see any need to try to control their sick desires.      Cody Mark Kozicki, of Pulaski, Wisconsin, is a teenage sex offender who definitely falls into the latter category. He spent years sending unsolicited explicit images of himself to girls in middle school and high school and never faced any consequences because the school administration simply tried to ignore it. Then, he chose to send thos

Smalltown School Superintendent Faces Charges for Touching Kids Just Months After Teacher Sentenced for Child Sex Crimes

Suring, Wisconsin, is a small town, population 489. There's one school, a general store, a gas station, and probably more bars per capita than people. There's also no doubt that this is Trump country, with the largest flag or banner in the town a crude one with black paint on white cloth that declares Governor Tony Evers, a Democrat, the equivalent of Hitler for his support of abortion rights and institution of public health measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and that's just after the bus retrofitted to say "Trump Train" lying abandoned in a field. All of this in an area not much bigger than a football field. This town, however, has some dark secrets.      There are more than two dozen sex offenders who live in Suring, a rate of five percent of the total population, or five times the national average. The newest member of this disgusting club is John E. Fredenburgh, 37. From October 2020 to February 2021, this village trustee was employed as a substitute

Men Get Stiff Sentences in Indiana Child Predator Stings

Image
Madison, Indiana, is probably the most perfect location in the United States to conduct a sting designed to arrest grown men who attempt to solicit 14-year-old girls online. Located directly on the border of Indiana and Kentucky, it is virtually equidistant from Louisville, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati, attracting a wide variety of men looking to prey on children. The Madison Police Department's Operation Predator Net, which took a break for a number of months but will soon be relaunched, led to the arrest of 20 individuals for felony sex crimes against children. So far, more than a dozen have pleaded guilty or been convicted at trial, and the men sentenced so far have gotten some of the stiffest sentences handed out anywhere in the country: James McGill of Jackson County, Indiana, already a registered sex offender, was sentenced to 28 years in prison after being found guilty of child solicitation and attempted sexual misconduct with a minor. Curtis James Imlay, of Medora, Ind

Michigan Teacher Could Face 444 Years Imprisonment After Human Trafficking Arrest

Things have certainly changed since the days of "To Catch A Predator." No longer can a team of volunteers working in collaboration with law enforcement attract 40 or 50 people to a sting house over the course of a few days via chatrooms. There are far more apps ranging from dating and hookups apps to video games and social networking sites; on top of this, technology has made it more difficult for law enforcement seeking to cut predators off at the pass, before they strike a real child, to catch these men (and women). However, the other result of this is that most of the people who are caught are not simpletons who got desperate. No, virtually all of these arrests are veteran sex offenders who leave a trail of victims. Whether it is through viewing child sexual abuse material, molesting children, or enticing them via the internet, it is all human trafficking, and it is estimated that a single human trafficking arrest can save as many as 25 minor victims.      My "Ph
