Paul Constantinescu was born on October 7th, 1965, in Cleveland, Ohio, and presumably graduated high school in the area. He decided not to go to college and to instead pursue a music career. Formed in April 1983, the metal band "Saber" included Paul Constantinescu on bass, his brother Rick and Pat Hayes as the founding members, as well singer Eric Reeves, also known as "Buddy McCormack," and, eventually, drummer Pat Pollack. They played shows at a number of venues in the area, becoming prominent musicians in the local metal scene. In 1984, they recorded their demo tape, consisting of six songs (as well as their only single, "City of Flames"), at the Suma Recording studio in Painesville, Ohio. The band continued playing until early 1985 and was followed extensively by local metal magazine "The Iron Planet." When Reeves moved to Phoenix, Saber relocated to California and played until 1990.
