Pedophile Ice Cream Shop Owner Gets Arrested, Has Business Vandalized And Shut Down

 

     William Minney, Sr. was born on June 10th, 1936, in Monroe, Michigan, married Joanne (Cvengros) May on August 18th, 1979, had five children (Bill, Jr., Mark, Michael, Denise, and Steve), worked at a Ford Motor Company plant for 30 years before retiring in 1995 to work several part-time jobs, and died on March 15th, 2021. I have no sympathy for the special deputy NRA and FOP member, but he can count himself lucky that he's dead. His wife, Joanne, however, not only has to live with a dead husband but a son looking down the barrel of years in prison. 

     Apparently, the Minney family has strong ties to the Monroe area, as the majority of the children still live there, including Bill, Jr. Bill, born in 1958, graduated from Monroe High School in 1976. He worked as a service group manager at AIG from November 1986 to May 2016 before starting a business in April 2016. We'll get to that later. He also spent some time volunteering for the Red Cross in 1995. 

     Enter Skeeter Jean, a YouTuber who sets up stings to catch men who try to meet children online. William Minney, who, for context, is 63 years old, began chatting online with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old boy. After asking him if he was an undercover cop, if he had ever met anyone from the dating app they were using, and how old the oldest person he had dated was (Skeeter Jean, posing as the boy, said 16), he asked for graphic details about a sexual encounter the decoy claimed to have had in his school locker room. After changing from the app to texting, he sent pictures and asked for some from the decoy, saying he was horny and had an erection before calling the decoy on the phone and telling him to come to his ice cream shop so thy could "make out" and have oral sex. His ice cream shop?

     Yes. You see, until his bust, Minney owned Main Street Dairy in Carleton, Michigan, where, presumably, he could command the trust of children. Instead of a 14-year-old boy, Minney was met at work by a camera and Skeeter Jean, who began by trying to order the "Predator Peanut Butter" before confronting him with the graphic chat. Minney tried every excuse in the book, insisting he thought the boy wouldn't come (as if the sexual online chat weren't already illegal) and that he had no intention of being there and meeting the boy. So, what, he was going to have a minor walk across town so he could stand him up? Minney continued the business of closing up his shop (an hour early, it should be noted) while claiming further that he did not really believe the boy was 14. Jean asked Minney if he had planned to "give the boy some other sort of cream" while Bill Minney claimed that if the boy were 14 and had, in fact, shown up, he would have sent him home. Customers showed up, ordered ice cream, and got to watch Minney say that the 14-year-old "shouldn't have been on the app," as if it were the child's fault. Jean asked Minney if he'd be okay with a "70-something-year-old" man coming to meet any of his young relatives before the confrontation ended.

     Jean obviously didn't buy the story, and neither did the good folks in law enforcement in Michigan. Minney's case went viral, garnering nearly half a million views in a matter of weeks, and, after local investigators received the chat logs just days after the video was posted, he was arrested and charged with two felonies: accosting a minor for immoral purposes and using a computer to commit a crime. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison on each count. Minney's bond was set at $100,000. After the video was posted, his ice cream shop was vandalized with graffiti that reads "rapist" and "pedo." Minney opted to permanently close the shop and sell the building immediately. 

     His business and his reputation have already been permanently damaged. The final piece needed to secure justice is to get a felony conviction with an adequate sentence. If we can do this, we can say that Bill Minney, Jr. truly is done for.
