Predators Like This Don't Come Around Often: He Was On The News Again And Again

David Schumacher takes the cake for the whitest man ever to appear on "To Catch A Predator" with the possible exceptions of Michael Wilusz and Cody Green. He obviously thought he was tough, but his sister's standoffish behavior with the police and apparent willingness to drop of her brother at a stranger's house with her child in the car should tell you the whole family is trash. As far as we can tell, it started with Schumacher's father, also named David Wesley Schumacher, who has numerous convictions for felony drug charges.

David Schumacher, Jr., was born on October 26th, 1984, and was in trouble with the law for his entire adult life. In September and October of 2002, he broke into a vehicle and stole property before stealing another vehicle and leading officers on a high-speed chase. He was convicted of grand theft auto, felony theft, trafficking in stolen property, and reckless endangerment. He received two sentences of 18 months and two of two years, to be served concurrently, and was released in April 2005.

He didn't wait long to get himself into trouble. From April 19th through April 21st, 2006, Schumacher, using the screen name "freebird_72000," spoke with a decoy he believed to be a 14-year-old girl named "Bea." He told her she was up late and asked if she got good grades, if she had a boyfriend, if she was a "good girl," and if she smoked marijuana before essentially admitting he was a short guy with no girlfriend. He grew more graphic with each of the next two conversations, going from saying he had a six pack to asking if she was a virgin, if she watched pornography, if she shaved her privates, if she could send pictures of herself, and more. He described, in detail, his plans to perform oral sex on her and for her to reciprocate, asked about the size of her breasts, said he wanted her head "buried in a pillow," and even went so far as to make plans for where he would ejaculate. Then of course, there was that famous conversation in which he asked if she wanted to "f*** or make love for [her] first time" and said "just let me drive... I'll show you heaven, baby."

On April 22nd, it was actually his sister who was driving him to the sting house in Fort Myers, Florida. He was planning, as far as we know, to bring the girl to Punta Gorda for a music festival called Livestock; this will be important later. His conversation with Chris Hansen was about as ridiculous as it gets. From saying, "I don't want to be on the news, dawg" and covering his head with his shirt to making sure he got the right news network to asking if he could smoke inside the house after being busted in a sex sting, he only got more outrageous after asking what kind of "rap" Dateline had on "people," if "the girl" still wanted to come (apparently unaware there was never a real 14-year-old) and if this was a "hold-up" or if they had a "warrant." He did, in his own words, "happen to know law enforcement," and according to his defense, was innocent because he was in a "role-playing chat room." (He was not.)

Outside, the man who admitted in his chat that he had no girls said he "don't need no 14-year-old; [he] got all kinds of girls," didn't seem to understand the cops were being safe and not just looking for marijuana when they searched his person, and asked if the picture they took of him, designed to shield officers from complaints of police brutality, was for their "pedophile thing." He was booked on charges in Lee County, Florida. However, because he apparently intended to take the girl to Charlotte County, the charges were dropped in Lee County and refiled in the appropriate jurisdiction. While out on bond, he was the getaway driver in a drug deal that resulted in a person almost being assaulted with a deadly weapon and tried to intimidate a female high school student who reported him for alleged sexual misconduct.

He was never registered as a sex offender, but he WAS convicted on the "To Catch A Predator" charges and the other cases. He was sentenced to 55 months for intent to commit felony assault in the Perverted Justice case and 54 months for each of the other cases. However, the sentences once again ran concurrently, and Schumacher was released on November 11th, 2010, after serving just three years of his sentence.

On May 9th, 2017, Schumacher started a YouTube channel in which he tried to claim that he was a good guy victimized by the system (in spite of his many, many felony convictions) and called out what he described as a community of TCAP "f***boys," saying the world would remember the day they tried to mess with "David Schumacher" as if he were a superhero. He was apparently high during the whole interaction, further evidence of which comes in his arrest for felony marijuana possession on August 31st, 2017. He was convicted in May 2019 and sentenced that June to 30 months in prison. He served just under a year before being released in April 2020, likely due to COVID-19.

He has been out for just over a year and is on supervised release, residing at 2210 South Waukesha Street in Bonifay, Florida. As his having spent the past 20 years either behind bars, on supervised release, or out on bond makes perfectly clear, this 36-year-old is a menace to society and will likely be in the criminal justice system for the rest of his life. Because of his appearance on "To Catch A Predator," his many arrests and those of his father have been a regular feature of the local news in Fort Myers and Punta Gorda. In spite of his wish to not "be on the news, dawg," it appears Michael Wilusz would have put it best: predators like this don't come around often; he was on the news again and again.
