Grandpa Investor Gets Shitcanned For Kiddie Rape
John Robert Barrows lives at 13082 Golfside Court in Clio, Michigan: Country Club Village at the Clio Country Club. He has two vehicles: a gray Subaru Outback (9HVG1) and a black 2020 Volkwagen R32 (9LQU37). What does a man have to do to earn this wealth?
For Barrows, it was investing. Born on April 26th, 1948, he started his career in the field as a young man. From December 1980 to October 1983, he worked for A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc. From December 1983 to December 1984 and again from June 1985 to March 1988, he worked for Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner, and Smith, Inc. From January 1985 to June 1985, he worked for Amfuels Securities Corporation. From May 1988 to January 2002, he worked for Robert W. Baird and Co, Inc. From May 1988 to to June 2019, he worked for Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, LLC. All this money from Milwaukee to Troy earned Barrows a great deal of respect. What happened in 2019, not so much. Nearly 40 years of success would have been a perfect way for John R. Barrows to end his career, but he decided on an alternative: child rape. In June 2019, Barrows was arrested for accosting a child for immoral purposes, child sexual abusive activity, and using a computer to commit a crime after engaging in graphic sexual chat with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl and meeting said child at a hotel for inappropriate physical contact.
Barrows failed to disclose his three pending felonies that could have put him away for life, and, as a result, he received a $5,000 fine and a suspension of eight months (February through October 2020) from FINRA. This came as he resigned his job at Northwestern Mutual but before he ultimately pleaded guilty to child sexually abusive activity on February 4th, 2020.
Permanently out of his career, Barrows could at least find some mercy in the fact that what could have been a 20-year prison term resulted in Mark W. Latchana handing him probation and sex offender registration. He's already received complaints from neighbors, and he is currently in violation of his release terms for failure to pay his fees. With all he's done, Barrows has enough money to do so, but apparently he doesn't take his conviction seriously. At his age, it's unlikely he ever will.
