Todd Alan Boland is a stain on Sterling Heights, Michigan, but a testament to Michigan's vigilance. He received 5 years probation and 25 years registration as a sex offender, which expires in 2034, a stiffer sentence than some men who showed up in other states.
Curtis Potts received a sentence of 18 months to 20 years in prison. He served until at least 2010. Because he was young, he did not have to register as a sex offender. He lives in Temperance, MI, and his MyLife page is here.
Gary Michael Lentz was 22 years old and had severe psychological issues, so he received 2-20 years in a mental hospital and didn't have to register as a sex offender, despite having a previous conviction. He remains incarcerated.
Don Salyers pled guilty and received a year in prison and lifetime RSO status, but other than that any information on him is nonexsitent.
Timothy Arthur chatted with a decoy online and received 6 months in jail, 5 years of probation with community service, and 10 years registration as a sex offender, which ended in 2019. AG Mike Cox took this crime seriously.
Russell Lee Bennett chatted with 17 decoys over the years and admitted to having sex with a girl while in the military. He spent 18 months in prison and must register as a sex offender until at least 2036. He has absconded his registration and allowed every condition of his release to lapse. If he is convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Urmilkumar Shah spent only 4 hours chatting, getting showered, sending pornography, and driving to the bust house to be arrested. He was sentenced to 18 months to 20 years in prison and was subsequently deported to India.
Gary Kapanowski thought he was fine sending a child porn but ending up spending 2 months in jail with probation until 2014 and sex offender registration until 2034. He lives in Warren, MI.
Gary Abner was convicted and sentenced to 13 months to 20 years in prison, but, because he was only 19, ended up not having to register as a sex offender, and thus information on him is sparse. Facing 5-100% of your young life in jail certainly isn't easy, and it dissuaded him from offending again.
Jason Duane Hughes, of Westland, Michigan, pled guilty and received probation until 2013, fines and community service, and sex offender registration until 2033, during which time he is to have no internet access and no unsupervised contact with minors.
Russell Schneider, Jr., of Ypsilanti, Michigan, is the son of another registered sex offender. He got 13 months to 20 years in prison and was released after serving 4. He must register as a sex offender for life.
Eraitt Vernon Austin spent 25 months in prison and several more years on probation before he was released into his life as an RSO. He lives in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
