The Patterns Of A Predator

 

     He is just a kid. Legally, he is not. Even if this argument were to be used in defense of then-17-year-old pedophile Cody Mark Kozicki, it would ignore two critical aspects of this case.

     Kozicki is a seasoned predator. He already sent dozens of young girls pictures before he was arrested, and he went back online the second he was released. No amount of jail or counseling will correct him. No predator wakes up at age 65 or 70 and starts preying on children: it can be decades before they are caught. Cody already has all the patterns of a predator. The only difference is that he still has decades to victimize more kids.

     This brings up the second point: these eight-year-old girls were all kids. He showed no mercy in his sex crimes, and he should receive none. These girls have lost their innocence and their faith in humanity, and they may have to struggle with this for life.

     To the judge deciding the sentence: make Cody pay for what he did. Do not give him another slap on the wrist.

The "Jesus Rocks" Predator Is Telling Lies Again

     Matthew Clifton Cogburn was born on July 22nd, 1984, in Gray, Georgia, where he was raised and ultimately spent his life. Apparently, his childhood was fairly normal for a kid in Georgia: he spent eight years flattening out a pile of dirt near his home, enjoyed playing with LEGOs, was an average student in school, and was raised as a very religious child, attending church camps every summer. He graduated Jones County High School in 2002. Around 2004, he began chatting with strangers online, later attributing it to "undiagnosed OCD," a subpar explanation at best.      Cogburn worked and attended college in 2006, bouncing from apartment to apartment during the school year, and his employer had enough faith in him to actually give the man his job back after a minor setback occurred in the form of Cogburn's appearance on To Catch A Predator in July of that year.
