To Catch A Predator Update: Flagler Beach, Part One

David Demers was convicted of 3 felonies in 2007 and sentenced to 2 years, 1 month in prison. After being released in 2009, he remained on probation until 2017 and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Todd Spikes was the police officer who brought an arsenal of weapons and a kill kit to meet a child for sex. He dragged on his case until 2010, when he pled guilty and received 10 years of probation and RSO status for life. He was arrested for probation violation in 2012 and spent 3 years in prison. He has been blacklisted from law enforcement for life as a felon and lives in a trailer and works at a family store.

Brian Ruffino got an even harsher sentence than Spikes. He was convicted in 2008 and sentenced to 18 months in prison, being released in 2009. He violated his probation in 2016 and was sentenced to 3 years and 1 month extra in prison. He was released in December 2020.

Michael Reyes was the relatively unnotable predator who looked like a man on meth. He was, in 2009, sentenced to 10 years probation and lifetime RSO registration. In June 2011 he was arrested for probation violation and failure to register as a sex offender. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison and released in March 2014. He remained on probation until 2017 and must register

Lance Fine, who wanted to be beat up and defacated on by a minor, was convicted in 2006 and sentenced to 5 years probation and lifetime RSO status after being fired from his job. He was arrested for probation violation in Tennessee after he wore a werewolf costume on Halloween while serving children at Perkin's. He is not believed to have been convicted in relation to the incident.

Charles Gregory Green was the epitome of a probation violator. He was arrested in a second sting in 2011 and sentenced to 5 years for the child solicitation and 5 years for probation violation. He served until Christmas Eve 2019 and must register as a sex offender and remain on probation for life.

Another man busted twice was David Wagner. After being released on bail, he got back online and chatted with an actual minor. He had previously chatted with a decoy in the Ohio investigation but never showed in person. He was sentenced to 7 years for chatting with the real girl and 5 years for the Flagler case, to be served concurrently. After his release, he was designated a sexual predator subject to lifetime probation and lifetime sex offender registration.

Stephen Holt also avoided arrest in Ohio because he was 18 and in high school, so PJ figured his behavior was odd but not worth setting up a meet. He surfaced at age 19 in Florida soliciting a tween and was sentenced to 2 years in prison followed by probation and lifetime sex offender registration. He looks like the most steroetypical pedophile in history.

William Roach was the man who had graphic chats with 6 decoys across Florida and claimed to have, "not done anything yet." He was also reported to have groped 2 coworkers and masturbated in front of his Mom's friend. He was fired from his job as a karate instructor and served 2 years in prison and remained on probation until 2019. He must also register as a sex offender for life, and he is reportedly living in South Carolina.

James Wiles was, however, by far the worst man busted in Flagler Beach. He was later discovered to have sexually and physically abused his daughter and failed to pay child support. He was never able to make bail, and he died a slow and painful death in the hospital after refusing to take his kidney meds in 2010.
